From Design to Live Website: 2-Hour Framer Workshop at Ovi Design Academy

On Saturday, September 19, 2026, Ovi Design Academy conducted an engaging 2-hour hands-on Framer Workshop, led by Muhammed.

The workshop was designed to introduce students and aspiring designers to Framer, a modern no-code website design and development platform that helps designers turn their ideas into interactive, responsive websites without depending heavily on traditional coding.

Learning Beyond Static Design

Today, designers are expected to think beyond static screens. Understanding how a design behaves when it becomes a real digital product is becoming an important part of the design process.

During the workshop, Muhammed introduced participants to the Framer environment and demonstrated how designers can move from a visual concept to a functional website.

The session focused on learning through practical demonstrations rather than only explaining the tool theoretically.

What Students Explored During the Workshop

Throughout the two-hour session, participants were introduced to the essential Framer workflow, including:

  • Understanding the Framer interface and workspace
  • Creating layouts using Frames and Stacks
  • Working with typography, spacing and visual hierarchy
  • Building reusable components
  • Understanding responsive website layouts
  • Adding interactions and animations
  • Creating smooth transitions between sections
  • Designing for different screen sizes
  • Understanding how a design becomes a functional webpage
  • Previewing and publishing a website using Framer

Students also learned how familiar UI/UX design principles from tools such as Figma can be translated into a working web experience.

From Figma Thinking to Framer Building

One of the key ideas discussed during the workshop was the transition from designing an interface to building an experience.

Instead of stopping at a static mockup, Framer allows designers to understand how spacing, responsiveness, navigation, animations and interactions work together in an actual website.

This gives designers a better understanding of both the design and implementation sides of a digital product.

A Hands-On Learning Experience

The workshop encouraged participants to experiment directly with the tool while following the demonstration.

Students explored how sections are structured, how responsive layouts behave and how subtle interactions can make a website feel more polished and engaging.

The session also helped participants understand an important shift happening in the design industry:

Designers are no longer limited to designing screens. They can now design, prototype and build functional digital experiences.

With modern no-code tools such as Framer, designers can take greater ownership of their ideas and bring them closer to a real product.

Why Framer Matters for UI/UX Designers

Framer is becoming increasingly useful for UI/UX and product designers because it connects visual design with real-world implementation.

Learning tools like Framer helps designers:

  • Build and test their own website ideas
  • Create interactive portfolio websites
  • Understand responsive design practically
  • Communicate better with developers
  • Prototype realistic product experiences
  • Turn concepts into shareable live websites
  • Explore no-code workflows alongside UI/UX design

For aspiring designers, these skills can also strengthen portfolios by demonstrating not just how a product looks, but how it actually works.

Learning with Muhammed

Muhammed guided the workshop through practical examples and explained the Framer workflow step by step, making the session approachable for participants who were new to the platform.

The workshop gave students an opportunity to explore Framer in a structured environment, ask questions and understand how modern designers can move faster from idea → design → interaction → live experience.

Building the Next Generation of Designers

At Ovi Design Academy, our learning approach goes beyond teaching software.

We focus on helping students understand how design, technology, AI and modern no-code tools are changing the way digital products are created.

Workshops like this Framer session give our students exposure to current industry workflows while encouraging them to experiment, create and build independently.

The 2-hour session concluded with students having a clearer understanding of Framer and how it can become part of their UI/UX design workflow.

Design it. Interact with it. Build it. Make it live.

That is where modern digital design is heading.
